23/2/10: Day 54
Jessica, who I work with, was kind enough to pose for a shot for me today. I want to continue on my portraiture over the year. I think the directional light works really well on this one.

22/2/10: Day 53
Myk and I headed to Carrs Lodge Park in Horbury today. Snow was on the ground, it was cold and generally speaking, the park was pretty crap. There was hardly anything there. A nice abandoned building which I would quite like to explore inside of. There are 2 or 3 small rock climbing walls for the kids, it was nice to see the snow on top and the gleam off the water as it melted down the side of it.

20/2/10: Day 51
I decided to get out of the house today, so I drove to Shakley Mere in Cheshire and had a walk around. Lots of wildlife to be shot, so to speak.

15/2/10: Day 46 - Kirklees Light Railway
After being undecided as to where to go, I figured that the light railway would actually be running with it being half term, so Myk and I went down to take some pictures on our lunch break.
I had some slower speed shots of the steam which had a nice effect and I think I will explore this later in the week when we return. The tripod will be needed!

11/2/10: Day 42
Today I went for a walk on my own as Myk had to see to the little one. I headed down to the viaduct and continued along the path to the canal. I managed to get so far down, heading towards the locks, but then came across the worrying sight of a hole underneath the concreate side of the canal, with a lot of water gushing out into the nearby field... A lot of water :S
So the locks were no go, heading back - I found this:

7/2/10: Day 38 - She's a waterfaaaaall
I dragged Kat out today to try to find Goit Stock Falls. No luck I'm afraid, although we did manage to pass this little beauty. It would've been nice to get a bit closer, to see what was inside the archway, but the conditions underfoot weren't the greatest and I didn't feel like falling into a river.

6/2/10: Day 37 - Misty woods
Saturday again and I want to get out of the house. Looking out of my bedroom window and it's bloody misty up on the hill... In fact, I can't see the hill, it's that misty. Sod it, let's have a wander up there again anyway.
I decided to drive up to the car park near the top this time... Fail... Ireland Bridge is shut, so I had to park at the bottom and walk up again. It's quite a nice walk mind, so I'm not so bothered. I have brought the new tripod with me today, the idea is to take some slow shutter shots to capture more detail in this low light. Something that I had trouble with last time due to my unsteady hand.
The mist and the light breaking through the trees give quite a nice effect. I used a slow shutter speed to try to get the light in towards the back of the woods. It's worked quite well.

5/2/10: Day 36
Another late night and desperate to get a photo done. I think this will be the downfall of my project and maybe I'll just have to persist with rushed shots just to take a photo everyday for a year.
This was an attempt at a slow shutter shot of water. The full photo is awful, but when it is broken down to it's current size and the greyscale added, the shading and light on the hand is really nice. I could sit and sketch this one as the detail is really good.

2/2/10: Day 33
So we managed to find the old disused railway on our flying visit yesterday, we planned to return and give it our attention.
We joined the railway at the start of the tunnel, where the path we followed yesterday would lead to the viaduct. This railway then runs down towards Horbury and is still in tact in some places. The surrounding area is mainly overgrown, but there are some derelict signals etc. It certainly needs a good few hours of time to get from one end to the other.

30/1/10: Day 30 - City Tour
Today, we finally got on the tour of the City of Manchester Stadium. We've only been going to it for the last 6 years or so to watch the football, it was about time we got around to the tour.
I really found it difficult to select a photo for today. I had 4 or so really nice shots that I wanted to use, but I think this one is probably one of the best. I had some arty shots of the actual stadium to use, but this captures my sister quite well.

28/1/10: Day 28
Today, Myk and I headed down to Healey Train Depot again, this time we decided to get a little closer to the depot. We headed down and planned to approach the depot from the opposite side to where we saw it the first time.
We came to our first sleeper on a disused line. The picture did seem to me like something from Half Life, it's got a CG feel to it.

26/1/10: Day 26
Another day of wandering with Myk. We've tried to find a disused railway without much luck, but we found some pretty cool places. I quite like the shot I have choosen, it's simple but quite nice with the reflection.
